Do you have a Mark Twain in your home? How about a Maya Angelou?
Whatever type of writing talents your children may have, you probably find yourself looking for some inspiration for topics.
The solution?
Writing prompts.
These handy, dandy story starters and journal ideas are the perfect tools for any homeschool. They offer writing ideas that can range from though-provoking questions to silly and impossible situations. They can be serious or they can be fun. Either way, they get children thinking and writing.
Below is a list of sites that offer a variety of writing prompts. Some are suitable for children while others will work well with teens. All will free your family up from that horrible barricade called “writer’s block.”

Thanks for mentioning my Wrighting Words website and the writing prompts. There are actually 199 prompts for teen writers on the site, many of which have lots of options, making a list of over 450 prompts. I’ve also added 90 new prompts for pre-teen writers. Hope your readers enjoy the writing prompts, along with other resources that I’ve added for teachers and homeschoolers.
Thanks again for the mention!
