Previously, I shared resources with spelling rules and spelling practice help. Now I have some sites that offer you free spelling lists that can be used to make into a spelling program or supplement an existing one.
Many of the websites below offer not only spelling lists, but also printables and/or online activities that go with the lists – a win-win situation. Those extras make it much easier for you to assign spelling practice in a variety of ways (some of them lots of fun!) to the children you teach. I encourage you to check out all of the features of each site.

Free Homeschool Resources: You’ll find free, printable spelling lists and packets on this portion of Free Homeschool Resources.
K12 Reader: This section of the reading site has spelling lists by grade level.
Home Spelling Words: Get free lists, games, tests and more on this website.
KidsSpell.com: You get spelling lists with online games on KidsSpell.com.
AAASpell.com: You’ll find word lists with online activities on this website.
SpellQuizzer: SpellQuizzer has some free lists to go with their online program.
Spelling City: This site has lists and other resources for teaching spelling.
Big IQ Kids: Get word lists by grade on Big IQ Kids.
SoftSchools.com: This page on SoftSchools has a variety of spelling word lists you might find useful.
My Spell It: Preparing for a spelling bee? Merriam Webster has lists based on word origin here.
