Base ten blocks are a necessity for hands-on place value learning. They really help kids see and feel the difference between a one and a ten, or a ten and a hundred. They also show children how, for example, ten tens make a hundred.
You can get a set of these important manipulatives for your homeschool without breaking the bank. I have list of some below that are all currently under $25.

Didax Educational Resources Interlocking Base Ten Blocks – This set of blocks is interlocking so that kids can see how, for example, ten tens stacked together make a hundred. Also, I bet kids would have a lot of fun building with these blocks. 😉
Learning Resources Giant Magnetic Base Ten – Here’s a magnetic set that could be used on a magnetic white board, metal file cabinet, or even your refrigerator.
Teacher Created Resources Foam Base Ten Set – These foam blocks are less expensive than the plastic versions yet still pretty durable.
